Vagabond

Vagabond is the car of Bogus Bil, Farmer Ted and you at the beginning of the race. This VW Bettle like car is not much of a racer but it will help you to get off the very bottom of the ranking table. There is one engine upgrade available for Vagabond, which would increase maximum speed from 55mph to 60mph. Two tire upgrades will greatly improve car’s handling possibilities. One armor upgrade does not make much of a difference. Without the upgrade a single mine causes a 10% - 11% of damage, while with upgraded armor the number drops to 9% - 10%. The size of the Vagabond is going to cause a little bit of frustration every time you get bumped or pushed off the track. However, you can use the fact that the car is small for your own benefit. Once you master close cornering, the Vagabond’s smallness will come in handy and you will be able to fit right between the obstacle, creating the corner, and the opponents’ cars, which often make wider turns. Therefore Hell Mountain and Rock Zone tracks are very friendly to this car as far as they are quite narrow, which helps you to block attacks coming from behind and offer curves, which could be used to catch up or overtake the opponents. If you are new to this game I do not recommend racing with this car in other than easy race. Experienced DR drivers know that you may succeed in medium race even playing at the highest difficulty. Don’t forget that loans from Loanshark are not available for Vagabond drivers.

Dervish

Shaped like 1980s pickups, this car is an obvious improvement over Vagabond. Its greatest strength is its size. Just as vulnerable Vagabond is to bumps from opponents’ cars, Dervish is rock solid and able to sustain a great deal of roughness and reckless driving. Two upgrades are available for engine, tires and armor. Each of engine upgrades gives the car a 5mph increase in maximum speed. Stock speed of 65mph may be therefore pushed up to 75mph. Drivers of Dervish, in comparison to Vagabond drivers, are eligible for loans from Loanshark. The sum of $1500 is not much but if you are struggling and cannot afford upgrades it is enough to cover that very crucial tire upgrade which can help you to move from a position of dust eater. Do not forget that you have maximum of three races to pay money back. Always go for tire upgrades first, drifting may be cool but unfortunately in this game you do not get points for it. Two armor upgrades can reduce the damaged caused by a single mine from 10% to 7-8%.
